The main character in my book is similar to some tv shows and books I've read. She has moved and is adjusting to her new surroundings. She's nervous, doesn't know what to think. I've seen tv shows, movies with characters in the same situation. Most of those tv shows or movies I've seen, they end up adjusting or fitting in but it takes them almost the whole story to fit in. My summer reading book I read, the boy didn't move but never really went outside and wasn't aware of the surrondings of the outside world. He had to adjust and discover the outside and places he has never really been just like the girl in my book except she has moved.

A conversation I would like to have with the main character or questions I would like to ask her would be asking her how she has adjusted to America and ask how different it is for her. I would want to know her feelings, if she's feeling overwhelmed, excited, sad, etc. I would want to know how her Mom and family are adjusting as well. Maybe ask her how hard it is to understand the people around her since she can't really speak English. Ask her if she is learning how to speak English and if she is how it is going.

Girl in Translation: Why the author wrote this work

I haven't got very far in my book but far enough to understand the characters and what they're dealing with. This girl and her mom move from China over to America. She is struggling to speak good English and adjust. The house they have been proved is very gross, wasn't taken care of by the person who lived in it before, and is infested with bugs. I think the author wrote this book to show how much of a struggle it can be to move from one country to another, away from all your familiar surroundings, also friends and family, to learn another language and to make new friends.

Girl in Translation: real life issues

In the book "Girl in Translation", my character is chinese. So therefore she is from another country. She is from China and has just moved to America. She is adjusting to her surrondings which are probably totally new and way different then the way they are and do things back in her orginal home, China. Since she is from China and grew up there for the beginning part of her life, she speaks Chinese. Obviously coming over to America, that can be a big problem. Adjusting to another language and learing it is very hard and stressful. This is a real life issue for some people because when people get moved over to another country, they speak another language for the most part so they have to adjust to the county's launguage that they're not used too.

I chose the book "Girl in Translation." I chose this book because I had orignally bought it on my Kindle to read for summer reading but ended up reading another book. So instead of it sitting on my Kindle unread, I should read it. I've honestly never really read a book like this. This isnt the type of book I would usually chose.
